Lens 23: App Updates and PIE Scores

And, we're looking for a team to represent SportsVisio in the AM Hoops Memorial Day Cookout.

Hello SportsVisio Community.

We had a few issues with our app over the past week as we made some updates to increase the speed and reliability. Some of you may have experienced a black screen or the app hanging for longer than it should have.

Good news - we published an update this morning with the fix. If you can go to the App Store or Play Store, search for SportsVisio, and hit the “Update” button, you’ll be back in business.

Our team is smaller than the size of two basketball teams, and we’re doing our best to keep you running and gunning. Thanks for your patience as we worked through these bugs. As always, if you see things that aren’t working as they should, DM us on Instagram or send us an email at [email protected].

We do have something new in this release that we think you are going to love…. but first we need your help.

Calling NYC Hoopers

We love what Jacob and the guys are doing at AM Hoops. We like it so much that we’ve signed up for a team to represent SportsVisio at the Memorial Day Cookout, even when we can’t be there ourselves.

It’s a killer half day 3×3 tournament on May 24th at Edmonds Playground in NYC.

If you have a group of 3 or 4 and want to run, send me a message and let me know what makes your group special or why you are the class of captains. We’ll hook one team up with SportsVisio kit and cover their entry fee.

Introducing PIE Scores

In our latest blog post, we delve into the Player Impact Estimate (PIE), a comprehensive metric that evaluates a basketball player's overall contribution to the game. PIE encompasses various statistical categories, including points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, and more, providing a holistic view of a player's impact on the court.

And, it’s now available for all players in the box score, as well as in the league rankings tab.

By integrating PIE into performance analysis, coaches and players can gain deeper insights into individual effectiveness, moving beyond traditional stats. Discover how PIE can enhance your understanding of player performance and inform strategic decisions.

Putting it into Perspective: Legendary PIE Performances

Michael Jordan in the 1993 NBA Finals

The basic box score tells part of the story— our Player Impact Estimate (PIE) tells the full one. PIE captures a player’s total impact on the game, and some of the greatest performances in history rank off the charts.

Here are a few legendary games with elite PIE scores:

🏀 Kobe Bryant (50.4 PIE) – 81 points vs. Raptors (2006). An absolute masterclass in scoring efficiency and dominance.

🏀 LeBron James (46.9 PIE) – Game 6 vs. Celtics (2012 ECF). A 45-point, 15-rebound masterpiece that saved Miami’s title hopes.

🏀 Michael Jordan (40.3 PIE) – Game 2 vs. Suns (1993 Finals). 55 points, unstoppable in the clutch, leading Chicago to victory.

🏀 John Stockton (37.4 PIE) – 19 assists vs. Magic (1991). A floor general at his peak, dictating the game with surgical precision.

🏀 Friend of SportsVisio Duncan Robinson (31.2 PIE) – Game 5 vs. Lakers (2020 Finals). Sharpshooting under the brightest lights—7 threes in a must-win game.

Who’s next to make the list? What will be your top PIE!?
